Block unsafe sites with Norton DNS - Security Tips and Tricks

As you know Symantec is an well known name in computer security field and to further safeguard users from malicious websites the company is also offering free public DNS resolution service to users labeled "Norton DNS", The free services makes use of Norton Safe Web database to prevent users from visiting malicious websites - three pre-defined content filtering policies are available for home and personal use:

Policy 1: Security (198.153.192.40 and 198.153.194.40) This policy blocks all sites hosting malware, phishing sites, and scam sites.

Policy 2: Security + Pornography (198.153.192.50 and 198.153.194.50) In addition to blocking unsafe sites, this policy also blocks access to sites that contain sexually explicit material.

Policy 3: Security + Pornography + Non-Family Friendly (198.153.192.60 and 198.153.194.60) This policy is ideal for families with young children. In addition to blocking unsafe sites and pornography sites, this policy also blocks access to sites that feature mature content, abortion, alcohol, crime, cults, drugs, gambling, hate, sexual orientation, suicide, tobacco or violence.

How do I know if it is working?
After you manually change your DNS server addresses, visit http://setup.nortondns.com/. This page will let you know if you are currently using Norton DNS.

One last note: I recommend you DNS Benchmark to help you to see wheather Norton Dns speed enough. Everyone will have a different experience, but many users find that Norton DNS performs better and faster than their default DNS provider.
